14/09/2012

Dear Parents,

It is with much pleasure we wish you a happy new school year.  Now is the time for a new beginning, a new opportunity to grow in knowledge of the world and ourselves.  During the first day of school as we teachers welcomed your children on the stairway entrance, it was a joy to see their enthusiastic faces and eagerness to begin a new year. Besides many welcomes and wishes for success, there were many smiles and warm hugs.  We, as a staff, are very pleased to begin the new school year and would like to share with you someimportant information.  Please carefully read the paragraphs below.

Uniforms

Students are required to wear the school uniform every day.  We will continue with the style and color used last school year. Those students who are new to our school and those who require a new uniform should inform their teacher for the type, amount and size they desire.  Uniforms with short sleeves and long sleeves are available.  We ask that your child places his or her order with the teacher by September 18.  Please make certain your child has enough uniform shirts to allow time for washing and drying so as to always come to school dressed in uniform.

Absences

When your child is absent from school, we ask that you inform the driver before the hour he has chosen as well as the main teacher of your child before 8:00 am.  By your informing the teacher, it avoids him or her having to contact you and saves time for the lessons in the first hour.  Furthermore, please inform the teacher if your child will be late for school or if he or she needs to leave before the end of school.  Also, we cannot allow students to leave school without your permission.

Transportation

If your child is not returning to the usual destination at the end of school, you must contact the teacher or send a written note with your child.  The driver will not bring your child somewhere he has not been informed of without your permission.  Also, if you would like someone else to pick up your child, please let us know.  All of these requirements are for the safety of your child.

Student Information Sheet

Attached to this letter, you will find a form to collect information on your child. Please fill out the form and return it to the school. It is very important that the school has current information and contact information for your child, especially in the event of an emergency.  All notification and letters to parents will be sent to your email address, so please check it daily.  The main letters and information will also be sent home with your child on a written copy. If during the school year, your cell number, home number or email address change, please contact the office at once!

School Rules

We have formulated a behavior plan for the benefit of every child to help him or her to make good choices resulting in a positive classroom atmosphere conducive to a learning environment. Children deserve to learn in an encouraging environment and I am sure, that with this process, we will arrive at this goal together.  Please read the school rules together with your child and discuss them.  Then, sign the form attached and send it into the school by September 18.

Character Program

In October, we will begin the character program for which we have had much success.  Many children have asked when we will begin it again. This is an excellent opportunity to cooperate between school and home to nurture the growth of character in our children, which is an important effort.  Please carefully read the letter that will be sent home each month explaining the theme of the month along with encouragement on how you, as parents, can help the development of character in your child.

We hope this year will be filled with many opportunities for your children to grow in a positive, loving environment. We want for each child to strive toward the maximum of his or her ability.  The best way for us to accomplish this is to work together.  Please contact your child’s teacher for any question you may have or concern.  We are happy and ready to help you with any issue.  Do not hesitate to contact us at any time.

Finally, please visit our updated website at protagonistschool.org.  We will keep it current with news and events of the school.  We wish your children a successful school year and hope that it will indeed be one of growth in knowldege and character.

Sincerely,

Maria Linderman
